Blog 11(rotunda project)

During our time observing everyone's brilliant rotunda projects, one really caught my eye. Not only because of the artistic display but, the information was astonishing. That project was the one about Media Consolidation by Sean Hanlon.
The initial viewing of this poster is that media controls our lives but, when you look at it deeper, Media Consolidation, is the process of fewer organizations or individuals having control of the increasing shares in the media. To put this into simpler terms, instead of each tv channel being its own company, a large company owns numerous channels. How is this proven? Well just look at the facts in 1983 90% of the media was controlled by 30 corporations  and in 2012 90% was owned by five corporations. The five corporations that run the media currently are Disney, Comcast, News Corp, Time Warner, and Viacom. For example Comcast owns Universal, NBC, and MSNBC. Advantages of Media Consolidation range from, diversity(in terms of multiple shows) to improved quality of work. My one question is, don't you think Media Consolidation will lead to cliquey views in terms of political and social news?
