College tuition has increased way faster than the rate of inflation over the past years. The average debt rose to about $30,000 and 70% of students are paying these loans. Students are now deciding on colleges based on the tuition and some can't chose their favorite school due to such high tuition. Many students are now experiencing loans after they graduate. As sad as it is, students and their families are even questioning if college is even worth it. As a student who hopes for nothing but a successful future, it is hard to imagine that going to the best private school will put me in the worst financial situation. The only option now is to think of what school will provide me with the best job, but will not seriously hurt me in the future.

Free College tuition for community colleges sounds very positive, but overall I don't believe it is best. Throughout the president's speech, he states that it would cost the government 600 million dollars, and it is brought to my attention that the country cannot even provide that amount. With studies shown for free community college in Tennessee this year, 90% of the graduating class has applied. In my opinion, what is the point? I strongly believe students who may have a higher average should deserve free college tuition considering they have worked so hard and some do really struggle financially to pay for college. However, free tuition at community colleges does not support my outlook on college. College is about learning how to live in the real world and become independent and meet new people. If majority of the graduating class attends community college for free, what is the point of graduating high school if you are with the same people and you are still living at home? Although it is free, many students would need to realize where it will take them in the future.
