"The Interview" (blog 9)

Just recently I watched the movie "The Interview," and I'm kind excited to talk about this considering we were threatened by North Korea. Just to give you a quick inside on what the movie's about and where North Korea was coming from on why they wanted to ban it, is that it's about a fictional plot to kill North Korea's leader Kim Jong-un. Now I do understand where North Korea would be coming from, except it was told that it was fictional and only to be taken as a joke and not seriously. Sony Pictures originally pulled the film after a cyber-attack and threats. Sony later reconsidered and released The Interview on Christmas Day. The controversial film was played in some US movie theaters and is available online as well. There were however some theaters who chose not to play the film.

My own personal thoughts on it would be that I don't think it should've been taken as serious as it did. Like I said before I understand where North Korea's coming from, and that they have fear about releasing the film, but we did address to them that it was all fictional. If you haven't seem the movie and wish to see it then don't read ahead because I'm just going to state some similarites from the movie to what people have said about North Korea and the real Kim Jong-un. Well for starters we hear today how Kim Jong-un starves people and isn't afraid to kill anyone, and that too is expressed in the film. Opinions on Kim Jong-un have been that he is a cruel and unfair leader. Throughout the film, North Korea is seen to be actually ok, until it shows that everything there is in fact fake, like the food and food stores. It is also later shown that Kim Jong-un is trying to kill people even of it's his own kind. He has no regards for others as shown in the film. Frankly, I don't like being told what I can and cannot do from others, like from the threat made, that's one of the reasons I actually wanted to watch it. Another reason is because I wanted to see if it's as bad as North Korea says it is. As my final thought to the movie, I don't actually think it was as bad as North Korea portrayed it to be, and
To be honest I didn't even think it was all that great, it was sort of stupid funny. These are my thoughts on the topic of how North Korea threatened us if we played the film "The Interview."

  1. I agree I can see why North Korea would have felt threatened by the movie. However I have read that North Korea has made plenty of movies that threaten America and other countries but they haven't done anything because they know it is just entertainment for there people and it can't be taken seriously. However I do think "The Interview" was to realistic they should have made a fake President or something. North Korea most likely didn't want the film to be played and threatened America because so much of it is true. People are starving and Kim Jong - un is a terrible leader. Why would he want that to be shown.
