Since 2000, the population in Manorville has increased its amount of residents by 28.6%. The population now reads as 7,455 men and 6,859 women with an average age of around 40 years old. In 2000, the estimated median household income was $62,895 and managed to jump up to $97,494 over the years until 2012. However, despite that median income in Manorville, the overall median household income for New York is $56,448 which is still comfortably live-able for the average middle class family. The e
stimated median house or condo value for Manorville residents in 2012 was $400,311 while in 2000 it was $189,800. Of course this spike in statistics was over a span of 12 years but it still shows us that the gap is growing between the middle class and the rich. Manorville is understandably on the wealthier side and more flourished with opportunities. However, not every household is lucky enough to bring in two incomes. My family happens to be very fortunate for my Mom's job and without it we wouldn't do nearly as good as do on a normal basis. Families more towards Nassau county are not as fortunate as families more deeper into Suffolk County. The poverty rate for a family including one adult and two kids in Nassau County (compared to my family of one adult and two kids in Suffolk County) is $8.80 an hour which is what I make at my job. I work about 25-30 hours more or less a week and these people work full time but either way I could never imagine raising a family with that income. The living wage is estimated at about $34 hourly so that gap really is life changing to a single parent.
