"It takes a great man to be a good listener"-Calvin Coolidge
Calvin Coolidge, 30th president of the U.S., was nicknamed "Silent Cal" for his quiet-frugal mannered perception. He served in the "Roaring 20s", a time where business and the dollar were flourishing. Due to his laissez-faire policy as well as limits on government spending and tax cuts. But enough about the economics, this man had a great deal of success because he represented the working class and was hands on with being cognizant of their wants and remarks.
This is a pretty simple quote when it comes down to it, it's very straightforward but, that's what makes it unique. Because when you a leader(like Coolidge) you think about all the logistics to lead like laws and rules, meanwhile if you just listen and are open to the people you'll be a thousand times more efficient. We all strive in everyday life to be leaders but, a lot of us just have the vocal/physical leadership aspect not the listening part, which requires the most intellectuality. The irony of this quote is that when we think of a leader we see strong well spoken charismatic people but, the real leaders are the ones that are quieter acknowledging everyone's opinions. Am I saying being a well spoken charismatic person is bad? No. But if you have the characteristic of being a good listener it'll get you far in life.
