Ebola and animals (blog 3)

With everything going on with the Ebola virus  right now everyone worldwide doctors and regular civilians have been trying to take caution in every way possible. But the question as to if animals carry or be infected with ebola has been posed numerous times. In one case the dog of an effected patient, the community believed that it would be safe to euthanize the dog affects the possible risk spreading the disease. Unfortunately  This was done without taking into consideration that research could be taken on this dog.
With out the research, we still don't know if domestic animals such as dogs or cats, can carry one or be affected by the Ebola virus. However many animals are known to carry or be effected by  the virus. These animals include monkeys and apes along with some species of rodents. The virus only effects a very small number of species, including humans. Bats, which are not effected by Ebola can however carry and transfer it through contact of blood and other bodily fluids.
