Paths Of Glory

Paths of Glory

During world war 1 there were many paintings of the worn down battlefields filled with dead bodies or men fighting for their country. The painting above "Paths of Glory" by Brittish artist Christopher Nevinson in 1917 is one of the most famous paintings during ww1. the picture above shows two dead Brittish soldiers face down in a battlefield on the western front with their weapons and helmets beside them in the muddy landscape. The painting id filled with dark colors just like many war painting, the colors represent sadness ordepression. the artist of the painting Chris Nevinson was an ambulance driver on the western fronts in the beginning of world war one and then was appointed as a war artist in 1917 and was sent to France by the Brittish War propaganda bureau. The paths of Glory is one of his best works along with "The Doctor" and "La Mitrailluse". Id have to say this is one of my favoritewar paintings along with "Gassed" because they're very detailed and show how detritus of war.
